Placing Holds

You can place a request on an item in our collection that is checked out. When you place a request, you will be notified by phone or US Mail as soon as a copy of that title becomes available for checkout.


To Place a Hold:

  1. Search the Library Catalog for the title you would like to reserve.
  2. To access the full record, click on the title (hyperlinked).
  3. To place a request on the item, i.e. place a hold, click on the Place Request button.
  4. The Your Account option will be displayed
  5. Type in your library card number
  6. Type in your password (your default password is the last four digits of your telephone number as listed in your account profile).
  7. Place a Request - Select your pickup library location from the drop down menu and click on Submit Request.
  8. You can verify your request by going into My Account and selecting the Requests option on the top menu bar.
  9. Remember to log out of your account.

You will not be able to place holds if :

  • If the title does not have copies which can circulate (for instance: Reference or Special Collections materials).
  • You library barcode and PIN/password number do not exactly match with our computer records.

If you are unable to place a hold on an item, please contact your local branch


To View Your Holds List:

  1. Log into my account.
  2. Select the Requests option on the top menu bar. Your requests page will be displayed. This screen will display the title, pickup library location, status of your request, activation date and hold position. You will also be able to cancel, suspend and reactivate holds from this screen

To Cancel your Requests (Holds):

  1. Log into my account.
  2. Select the Requests option on the top menu bar. Your requests page will be displayed.
  3. Select the titles you want to cancel by putting a check in the check box
  4. Click on the Cancel Selected button. You can also Cancel All requests from this screen

To Suspend and Reactivate Requests (Holds):

  1. Log into my account.
  2. Select the Requests option on the top menu bar. Your requests page will be displayed.
  3. Select the titles you want to suspend or reactivate by putting a check in the check box
  4. Click on the Suspend/Reactivate Selected button. You can alsoSuspend/Reactivate All requests from this screen.

InterLibrary Loan:

If PGCMLS does not own the item you want, go to Marina to place a hold for the item from another library system.
