Largo, Maryland – The Prince George’s County Memorial Library System (PGCMLS) invites community members to come kick off Summer Prince George’s 2025, co-presented again this year by the Washington Nationals and the PGCMLS Foundation.
"Summer Prince George's aims to keep minds of all ages active, engaged, and ready for success. Continuing to read and learn during the summer months is especially important for young people to mitigate 'summer slide' and to maintain skills,” says PGCMLS Program Services Manager Rachel Zukowski. “Come by our branches during kickoff week to register for the program and participate in the fun kickoff events we have planned to spark excitement and build community, setting the tone for lifelong discovery!"
Kickoff festivities will take place starting Monday, June 23 with a full week of celebratory, family-friendly events at each of the Library’s 19 branch locations. These events, which will feature the 2025 Collaborative Summer Library Program theme, “Color Our World,” will give library customers of all ages a chance to win prizes, play games, and take part in festive summer activities.
Summer Prince George’s isn’t just for kids: Multiple events geared towards parents and adults are also on the summer calendar, including an open mic poetry night at the Hillcrest Heights Branch Library on June 18 (feat. DJ Frank and live painting by Ben Beauty), as well as the return of the community favorite “Book Crawl” series, which will see PGCMLS-hosted events like Bingo, trivia, and an “After Hours Book Fair” pop up at local small businesses like Pizzeria Paradiso, miXt Food Hall, and the New Deal Cafe.
All 19 of the Library’s Summer Prince George’s 2025 Kickoff Events are highlighted below. For more information about Summer Prince George’s 2025, visit pgcmls.info/summer.
