Oxon Hill, MD – Come hear Astronaut Serena M. Auñón-Chancellor share her story about her first adventure into outer space! She will be at our Oxon Hill Branch Library on Monday, June 10 at 7 pm. Arrive early from 5:30-6:30 pm, and take a virtual reality tour of the International Space Station (ISS). Dr. Auñón-Chancellor served for six months as Flight Engineer on the Expedition 56/57 crew, logging 197 days in space. While aboard the Soyuz spacecraft, the crew circled the earth 3,152 times, traveling 83.3 million miles!
The Expedition 57 crew contributed to hundreds of experiments in biology, biotechnology, physical science and Earth science aboard the ISS from June 6-December 19, 2018. The Soyuz spacecraft launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome and landed in Kazakhstan.
