KEYS provides career pathways, credential attainment, and supportive services to those who may face barriers to employment.

EPG KEYS

To qualify, participants must be economically disadvantaged and they must be able to identify with one of the following barriers to participate in the KEYS program:

Needs assistance with securing and maintaining a job or completing a training program
Deficient Literacy Skills (math/reading)
Homeless or Foster Child
Pregnant or Parenting
Involvement with the Justice System
Has a documented Disability
Never worked or lacks necessary Work Readiness Skills to acquire employment

KEYS is a federally-funded program under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and Department of Family Services (DFS). Prospective participants are subject to program eligibility requirements as well. Each participant is exposed to educational services and training that will increase their skill sets for today’s competitive labor market. In addition, our youth will participate in a paid internship or training program and receive 12 months of follow-up services and assistance for placement in permanent jobs, training programs, and educational opportunities.  Our focus industries for Internship/Training Certifications include:

Healthcare
Information Technology
Retail
Administrative Services
Warehouse
Maintenance
Food/Beverage
HOW DOES KEYS CAREERS WORK?

KEYS Careers operates in four (4) phases.

Phase 1: Pre-Enrollment & Observation
Eligibility and program readiness interview and assessments.

Phase 2: Employability Seminars & Remediation
For eight (8) weeks, participants attend intensive paid Employability Skills Seminars. Our curriculum is specifically designed to build the skills necessary to attain and maintain employment. Participants may also be required to attend academic remediation in either reading, mathematics or both to improve their basic skills.

Phase 3: Internship/Training
After successfully completing Phase 2, participants may be placed in either a 10-week, paid internship or a training program paid for by the KEYS program. Participants are supported by a job coach and KEYS team throughout this phase. Training is currently provided in, but not limited to: Retail /Hospitality/Warehouse Services, Administrative Services, Information Technology, Healthcare and Construction Services.  

Phase 4: Placement
Placement is determined by a participant’s education level, aptitude, and interest.
