Teen Action Group (TAG)

The Prince George’s County Memorial Library System (PGCMLS) is happy to provide volunteer service hour opportunities to Prince George’s County teens and tweens to aid in their requirement to graduate. One way to receive these hours is through our Teen Action Groups (TAG).

TAG is a monthly meeting that focuses on community-based programs and service learning opportunities. Each TAG is different and offers different programs, but every TAG meeting counts as a Student Service Learning hour. By joining us for a TAG meeting, you can:

  • Meet new people
  • Develop leadership skills
  • Become an advocate for the library
  • Create programs
  • Help library develop teen services vision
  • Learn about and help your community

Not all branches have an active Teen Action Group. To see upcoming TAG events, please click here.

Frequently Asked Questions

Each TAG meets on a different schedule. Please check the events calendar for your branch's TAG schedule.

Most TAG meetings last 1-2 hours. Each meeting hour is equal to one student service learning hour. Each TAG group will provide opportunities for teens to earn extra student service learning hours.

The TAG facilitator at your library can sign off on your SSL hours. Please bring the appropriate paperwork with you to each TAG meeting. The facilitator will sign papers at the end of each meeting. You can also email isaiah.west@pgcmls.info if your facilitator is not available.

Don't worry if your local PGCMLS branch does not have a TAG! We are always adding student service learning opportunities to our calendar. You can also check out a TAG at another branch.
