Largo, Md. – As part of ongoing efforts to expand access to library resources throughout Prince George’s County, the Prince George’s County Memorial Library System (PGCMLS) will open a new self-service pop-up library at National Harbor in collaboration with the Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council (PGAHC). Located within PGAHC’s Arts’tination gallery space (162 Waterfront St, National Harbor, Oxon Hill, Maryland 20745), the “Pebble Pop-up Library” will contain a collection of 400+ books, with a focus on books about fine and performing arts for children, arts entrepreneurship books for adults, and more. The “Pebble Pop-up Library” opens to the public on Saturday, April 30 at 1 pm and will be open during regular Arts’tination hours, Wednesday-Sunday, 1-6pm.

Beginning in spring 2022, PGCMLS and PGAHC will co-present select programs for children, teens, and adults at Arts’tination, in addition to PGAHC’s cultural programs. Joint programs will be announced in the coming weeks. These events will include book discussions, art workshops, literary events, storytimes, and more. 

The Library and PGAHC are longtime partners in service to Prince Georgians, frequently presenting joint programs and also collaborating on Art in Public Places commissions within county library buildings, like the Valerie Theberge and Curtis Woody installations at the new Hyattsville Branch Library. 

PGCMLS is proud to support the 967,000+ residents of Prince George’s County year round with print and digital information resources, programs, services, and gathering spaces. The Pebble Pop-up Library is an extension of this work in support of the community, providing Prince Georgians with a new point of access to Library resources at the popular National Harbor complex.

Returns may be dropped off at the Pebble Pop-up Library during operating hours only. Library holds will not be available for pickup at the pop-up location. The nearest branch library with holds pickup is Oxon Hill (6200 Oxon Hill Rd, Oxon Hill, Maryland 20745).

The Arts’tination space was gifted to PGAHC in May of 2021. Beginning as just a window installation, the space has grown to hold over 10 local Resident Artists, all of whom handcraft, create, and run their own stalls. We also feature the artwork of several of our Gallery Artists.
