Let’s learn together!

Lunch and Learn returns with special guest V. Castro on "The Queen of the Cicadas"  in conversation with the Prince George's County Office of Human Rights and the Prince George's County Memorial Library System discussing her 2021 book "The Queen of the Cicadas," and the upcoming anthology she's working on that celebrates the richness of Latine cultures.

About the Book:

In 1950s south Texas a farmworker- Milagros from San Luis Potosi, Mexico, is murdered. Her death is ignored by the town, but not the Aztec goddess of death, Mictecacíhuatl. The goddess hears the dying cries of Milagros and creates a plan for both to be physically reborn by feeding on vengeance and worship. in 2018, Belinda and the new owner of the farmhouse - Hector, find themselves immersed in the legend and realize it is part of their fate as well.

About the Author:

V.Castro is a two time Bram Stoker Award nominated Mexican American writer from San Antonio, Texas now residing in the UK. She writes horror, erotic horror, and science fiction. Her books include Immortal Pleasures, The Haunting of Alejandra, Alien: Vasquez, Mestiza Blood, The Queen of the Cicadas, Out of Aztlan, Las Posadas, Rebel Moon (official Netflix film novelization), The Pink Agave Motel, and Goddess of Filth.

Her forthcoming book is a YA short story collection, Tejano Tales to Tell in The Dark and Tales of The Dark Feminine: Inspirational stories of The World's Fiercest Goddesses.
