Celebrate Juneteenth with author Tricia Elam Walker as she reads from her exciting children’s books, "Dream Street" and "Nana Akua Goes to School". These stories feature fun characters and important lessons about dreams, family, and celebrating what makes us unique. Best suited for children ages 4–8.
In "Dream Street", you'll meet characters like Azaria, who loves jumping rope, and Mr. Sidney, the friendly retired mailman. After the story, Tricia will talk to the kids about their dreams for themselves and the world.
In "Nana Akua Goes to School", Zura is nervous about introducing her grandmother with special tribal markings to her class. But Nana Akua shows everyone how amazing and unique she is! After the story, kids will learn about Adinkra symbols, pick their favorites, and draw them with crayons and markers.
Books will be available for purchase and signing after the event!
