Festival of Cultures: Mendhi Five Senses Cultural Workshop

Stories We Share: The Courage to Connect // Conference room

Step into the vibrant world of mehndi (henna art) through an immersive, five-senses cultural workshop led by a professional henna artist. Participants will explore the history, botany, and cultural significance of henna across South Asian, Middle Eastern, and North African traditions. All interested participants will receive a freehand henna design by the artist. Optional bindis are available.

Through interactive stations and guided discussion, participants will:

Learn where henna comes from and how the natural paste is made
Discover its botanical and herbal properties
Understand when and why henna is traditionally worn
Learn how to identify authentic natural henna versus ink-based “henna tattoos”
Explore the meaning and symbolism of the bindi
Engage with rangoli- and mandala-inspired design
Experience cultural textiles through hands-on saree draping
