More than one year after Putin’s invasion of Ukraine a protracted war has emerged, impacting global security, energy, economics, alliances, and defensive reserves for decades to come. This presentation will openly discuss factors contributing to Putin’s decision to invade Ukraine. It will also discuss existing and future impacts on both American and global security.
Bear Afkhami has twelve years of experience in the homeland security field, including prevention, protection, mitigation, response and recovery work. Bear has a BA in Intelligence and an MS in Analytics. He combines his degree in intelligence and interest in international relations, to write and lecture on the impact of foreign policy, foreign/domestic extremist organizations, and use of intelligence. He has written articles for FireRescue1, EMS1, Police1 and Fire Chief magazines and speaks at homeland security and emergency management conferences. Bear has previously given lectures for the Prince George’s County Library System, including "The Impact of COVID-19 on Global Foreign Policy" and "The Impact of COVID-19 on Anti-Government and Nationalist Groups".
