Dr. Alicia Christy is an African American author, illustrator, physician, and Army Veteran. With a decorated career that includes retiring as the Deputy Director of Reproductive Health at Veteran Health Affairs, she holds esteemed positions as a professor at the Uniformed Services University and an adjunct professor at Howard University School of Medicine.

Her artwork serves as her resonating voice for social justice, demonstrating her profound commitment to advocacy. Notably, her painting "When Will Black Lives Matter" was chosen from over 1,000 submissions for the esteemed online Art Against Racism exhibit. Furthermore, Dr. Christy's cover art and artist statement titled "We Must Speak for the Voiceless and Vulnerable" graced the pages of Academic Medicine. Her compelling narrative, "A Legacy of Activism | ACOG," was also featured by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Her evocative portraits have found their home at Dulles Airport, with upcoming exhibitions planned for Reagan Airport. In a significant showcase her artwork was part of a notable exhibit at the Library of Congress on June 30, 2022.

Dr. Christy's impactful journey of utilizing her artwork to honor women Veterans is beautifully documented in "Honoring Women Who Have Served | ACOG." In 2020, her dedication to women Veterans and homeless women garnered her the Humanism in Medicine Award from the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.

Protest is Patriotic, by Alicia Christy

Dr. Christy's literary contributions and artistry have found their way into prestigious publications such as Seminars in Reproductive Medicine and Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinics of North America. Her artistry even graced the cover of the inaugural issue of Fertility and Sterility Science. Her insightful perspectives have also been featured in the American Medical Association Journal of Ethics and the Journal of Narrative Medicine.

Notably, her artwork "No Muslim Ban" has taken its place within the permanent collection of the Busboy and Poets Brookland location. Her talents have shone at prominent galleries, including the Honfleur Gallery in Washington, DC and the Hunter Gallery in New Jersey.
