Library Celebrates Career Success Month 2023

Largo, Maryland – The Prince George’s County Memorial Library System (PGCMLS) is proud to partner with Maryland’s public libraries to co-present the inaugural Career Success Month, January 17 - February 17, 2023. Career Success Month is an initiative of Maryland Libraries Together and provides library customers throughout Maryland with guidance from experts on a wide spectrum of business to job advancement topics and helps them navigate everyday life while pursuing their career goals. Prince Georgians can access career success programs presented by PGCMLS at local branch libraries and online through PGCMLS and partner libraries. Kathryn Finney on “Build the Damn Thing”

Kathryn Finney is a serial entrepreneur and investor. She is the Founder and Managing General Partner of Genius Guild, a Chicago-based venture fund that invests in scalable businesses led by Black founders using innovation to build and promote healthy communities. Her new book, "Build The Damn Thing: How to Start a Successful Business if You're Not a Rich White Guy," launched in June 2022 and made the Wall Street Journal bestsellers list in its first week of release. The Library also offers Career Online High School, an accredited high school diploma program (an alternative to the GED) for adults 21 and older to obtain a diploma and career certificate online.
