Beginning August 31, 2026, Marina will be upgrading its resource-sharing platform to help you find and request items from other Maryland libraries. The interface will provide you with a wider array of filtering and search options to make it easier to find and request relevant titles across multiple formats. A full step-by-step walkthrough of everything you need to know about using the new platform will be available starting August 31.

Borrow from Other Libraries - Interlibrary Loan

When a specific item is not available in the PGCMLS collection, cardholders can try requesting it from another library system using interlibrary loan.

The primary interlibrary loan service used by PGCMLS is Marina, a free statewide system managed by the Maryland Statewide Library Resource Center that helps Maryland residents access a robust array of borrowable materials held by public library systems across the state. As a PGCMLS cardholder, you can use Marina to request materials not owned by the Prince George’s County Memorial Library System, and have those materials delivered to the PGCMLS branch library of your choice.

Access Marina

(For materials not available through Marina, PGCMLS cardholders can also access WorldCat; see below for more detail.)

Getting Started

  1. Make sure you have your PGCMLS Library card number on hand.
  2. Items cannot be requested through Marina if they are owned by PGCMLS, so to start, first search the PGCMLS catalog for your desired title. If all copies of the title you want are currently checked out, please place a hold request.
  3. If the title you are looking for is not owned by PGCMLS, you can expand your search to Marina.

  2. When prompted for user type, click Patron.
  3. Enter your library card number (without spaces), then click Submit.
  4. Enter your search term(s) (title, author, subject) for the desired item, then click the magnifying glass icon.

Note: Items borrowed through Marina may be renewed one time.

Canceling a request

Requests on Marina cannot be canceled directly through your customer account.
