The spring migration season for birds kicks off in March for us in the mid-Atlantic, with restless skeins of geese already on the wing northward and early small-bird migrants working their way through local fields and forests.
We'll spend some time in the classroom learning the basics of bird watching, including identifying major groups of birds, using binoculars and field guides, and figuring out which birding apps are appropriate for beginners. We'll put all we've learned to the test on March 30 at Lake Artemesia. This learning experience is open to adults and family members 13 years of age and older.
