Celebrate the debut of Khadijah Z. Ali-Coleman's second poetry collection, "For the Girls Who Do Too Much," released in August. This poignant collection is a tribute to women who juggle multiple roles, work tirelessly, and love fiercely, often at the expense of their own well-being.
The evening will feature an exploration of personal and powerful themes, including Ali-Coleman's nuanced relationship with her mother, who passed away in 2014. Her poetry delves into loss, love, the challenges of aging, work toxicity, the complexities of mothering, and the struggles with depression.
Dr. Ali-Coleman, the 2023-2026 Poet Laureate of Prince George's County, MD, and founder of Black Writers for Peace and Social Justice, will share insights into her work, which draws from the Black radical tradition and her unique approach, "Writing for Liberation."
Don’t miss this opportunity to engage with a compelling voice in contemporary poetry and to reflect on the powerful themes addressed in "For the Girls Who Do Too Much".
