About the author, Isha M. Renta: A native of Ponce, Puerto Rico, Isha Renta is passionate about nature, cultures, and science. Fascinated by hurricanes as a girl, she pursued a degree in meteorology in Washington, DC, and has worked in the field since. Beyond her scientific career, Isha founded Semilla Cultural, a non-profit dedicated to Puerto Rican Bomba, and has published her first children's book, "Sofia and Her Bomba Drum."
Raised amidst the natural beauty of Puerto Rico, Isha's deep connection to her heritage and culture led her to become a practitioner of Bomba, an Afro-Puerto Rican musical tradition. Since 2007, she has studied and taught Bomba, sharing its rich history and practices through her non-profit organization. In addition to her professional and cultural pursuits, Isha is a mother of two and enjoys family time, concerts, and planning new adventures.
