This week, we are excited to welcome Briana Thomas to Lunch and Learn. Briana wrote the book Black Broadway in Washington, DC and hosts walking tours on U Street that explore the forgotten Black history of the area.

Briana A. Thomas's writing and research serves as a platform to amplify diverse voices and narratives. Through her articles, books, and other forms of media, she brings attention to the often overlooked or marginalized stories that have shaped the fabric of America. Briana is the author of the Black history book, Black Broadway in Washington, DC, and a contributing author to the travel book Where to Go When: The Americas. She is the Arts and Culture Writer for Washingtonian Magazine, and a frequent contributor to Smithsonian Magazine. Briana co-hosts a weekly culture segment on WTOP Radio. She earned a Master of Journalism degree from the University of Maryland-College Park and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Communications from Greensboro College. Briana is a licensed DC tour guide, and the founder of walking tour company Black Broadway Travel, which has been featured on television networks such as ABC, NBC and CBS.
