Community Native Planting Project (CNPP) and the library celebrate Earth Day with a plant give-away! Drop by Bladensburg Branch, pick up some native plants for your yard, and help heal the planet.

Community Native Planting Project's mission is to advocate for the use of native plants in landscaping and natural areas, the reduction of turf grass and non-native species used, and the removal of invasive species from public & private land.

Their goals are to use native plants to: 

• Create healthier green spaces
• Increase biodiversity
• Strengthen the food web
• Restore ecological balance
• Aid with stormwater management
• Combat climate change

CNNP realizes their mission and goals through environmental stewardship, encouraging environmentally-sound landscaping practices, and conducting educational programming and outreach.
