Rosa Maria Romero grew up in the Washington D.C. area and now lives in Greenbelt, Maryland. Her parents are from El Salvador and moved to the U.S. in the 1980's. She has been an elementary school reading teacher since 2018. She earned her Master of Education degree in Reading Education with a reading specialist certification from Loyola University Maryland.
Rosa and her students love reading time and enjoy discussing what makes a book special. This influenced Rosa to share her student's favorite books on her social media platforms Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube @Msromerosbookshelf and Twitter @Msromerosbooks.
As a writer, she writes stories and poems with characters that all children can relate to. Growing up, she noticed a lack of multicultural children's literature with story characters that looked like her or people she knew... so now she is writing them so other children can relate.
I Wear Long Hair and Tengo mi cabello largo are her debut children's books.
