MahoganyBooks will celebrate its annual Black Books Matter Day at National Harbor in Prince George's County, Maryland, on August 6, 2022.

Black Books Matter Day was proclaimed annually on the first Saturday of August in Prince George’s County by Angela Alsobrooks, Prince George’s County Executive. Black Books Matter Day was founded in 2021 to recognize authors of the African diaspora and the readers who support and are empowered by the culturally diverse representation of their literary works. The celebration will include reading the Black Books Matter Day Proclamation, a poem commemorating the day, and a book signing featuring How Exceptional Black Women Lead by Dr. Avis Jone-Deweever at 1:30pm.

The Prince George's County Memorial Library System will be on hand to distribute library cards to all those interested. 1-3pm.
