Voices of the County: Prince George's Poet Laureate Naming & Award Ceremony

Lecture HallIn celebration of National Poetry Month and the County's Festival of Literary Arts, the Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council partnered with Dialect of Prince George’s County, Prince George’s County Memorial Library System and the Lucille Clifton Scholarship Program to jointly host this event to showcase the County’s extraordinary literary talent of all ages through poetry and literature.
Doors will open for a reception at 5PM and the Awards Program will begin promptly at 6PM.
The celebration will feature:
- Finalist competition and announcement of 11th Youth Poet Laureate 2026 by Dialect of Prince George’s County.
- Announcement and performance of the 3rd Prince George’s County Poet Laureate, PGAHC (2026-2028), PGAHC Office of the Poet Laureate
- Announcement of the winner of the 3rd Annual Lucille Clifton Literary Scholarship Award for current or former Youth Poets Laureate or Poet Ambassadors with the Prince George's Youth Poet Laureate Program. The scholarship was established in 2024 by Prince George’s County Inaugural Poet Laureate, J. Joy “Sistah Joy” Matthews Alford
